Multi MIMSY 2000 was retired in August, 2007, after nearly ten years. It addressed profound changes in the use of information technology by cultural institutions.

At the time, Multi MIMSY offered the most comprehensive data structure of any museum system and features:

       number of user-definable fields
  
•   Multi-disciplinary collections
  
•   Media handling capabilities
  
•   Integrated Internet Capabilities
  
•   Windows and Macintosh clients

Multi MIMSY 2000 was replaced by MIMSY XG, a new program built on the strengths of the old.
