We’ve got answers.
Willo brushes your teeth automatically with the push of a button. Its mouthpiece is made from supple silicon and is covered with nylon bristles. When Willo is brushing your teeth, the mouthpiece contracts and relaxes around your teeth, rubbing the bristles against them and along your gum line to clean away plaque. Liquid rinse that serves as a toothpaste and water are injected through the mouthpiece and then pumped out directly into your sink to wash away debris. No need to spit!
We made Willo for kids because they (and their parents’ sanity) needed it the most. However, we’ve heard loud and clear that adults want to use it too, so we’re working on ways to release Willo for adult use. If you are an adult whose kid is using Willo at home, you can try it but should note the experience will not be the same as for your kid. Adults will notice a different level of efficacy and comfort, and may experience gum bleeding, as they are more likely to have higher levels of gum inflammation.
We’ve tested Willo among children with disabilities, and found that their oral health tends to benefit from Willo’s automation and consistency. However, every child and family is different. If you would like to explore how Willo can impact your specific family, we offer one-on-one onboarding calls with a licensed dental professional and a 30 day risk free period during which you can see if Willo is a fit.
Many Willo users have had success with orthodontics, but this can vary by person and type of orthodontic appliance. Consult with your orthodontist to determine if Willo is a good fit for you.
When using Willo to brush, you should maintain your normal flossing habits — typically once per day — using floss or interdental brushes.
We recommend cleaning your mouthpiece once a week with hydrogen peroxide at 3% concentration for 5 minutes. Take a container large enough to fit the mouthpiece and place the mouthpiece in the container. Pour the hydrogen peroxide into the container until all the mouthpiece bristles are covered. After 5 minutes, remove the mouthpiece and rinse it thoroughly in clean water, rubbing your fingers into the bristles for 1 minute. Your mouthpiece will look brand new!
Kids often don’t have the physical dexterity or patience to brush their teeth properly, especially the teeth they can’t see, leading to many preventable cavities and gum disease. We have tested Willo rigorously among kids and 90% of children showed an improved or equivalent level of plaque after using Willo for 15 days.
Willo was founded by a dentist, Dr. Jean-Marie, who every day saw patients with gum diseases that were preventable with better brushing habits. For kids, a lack of dexterity and attention has led to 46% of kids in the US having cavity disease since they struggle to brush according to a dentist's recommended technique. After 7 years of research and development, our team - which includes dental professionals, engineers, and designers in France and the U.S. - created Willo. This device completely reinvents how we approach oral hygiene at home from a young age, by offering a fully automated experience that helps kids brush with independence.
No, Willo is not a vibrating mouthpiece. Willo is a toothbrushing robot that has a non-vibrating supple mouthpiece covered with nylon bristles that you insert inside your mouth. When you launch a cycle, the pumps inside Willo make the mouthpiece contract around all surfaces of your teeth and then relax. The combined action of the contraction/relaxation of the mouthpiece and the consequent movements of the bristles onto the teeth surfaces is how Willo scrubs plaque free from your teeth and carries it away into your sink, automatically!
Not yet, but it’s in the works. In order for Willo to be approved by the American Dental Association and get their seal of acceptance, the device needs to be tested in a specific way, for a specific time, with clinical trials. Good news, though! Our trial is about to launch very soon with an awesome university. If you want to receive updates concerning this, don’t hesitate to subscribe to our newsletter.
Willo uses a fluoride-free rinse to help clean your teeth. Due to FDA regulation of fluoride products, developing a fluoride rinse for Willo takes time, but we are working on it! Willo supports the use and benefits of fluoride. If you wish to have fluoride incorporated into your dental hygiene routine, we recommend using mouthwash after your Willo brushing cycle. Willo staff love and recommend ACT Fluoride Rinse, which comes in a variety of flavors that kids love.
We offer a 30-day money back guarantee on all Essential Kit purchases. We do accept returns for accessories and refills (mouthpiece and rinse) only if they are unopened. They will not be eligible for a refund if they are unboxed or used. The Willo device also comes with a one-year limited warranty.
